What is a hurricane screen?
A hurricane screen is a code-rated mesh that rolls down over a porch, patio, or other large opening and locks into side tracks. It is engineered to take wind-borne debris the way a shutter does, but it is light, sits in a compact housing, and you can still see through it.
Are hurricane screens really strong enough for a coastal storm?
Yes. The hurricane-rated mesh we install is impact-certified to the same tough coastal standards as our roll shutters and storm panels. It is built to protect openings that are too large for a conventional shutter.
Where do hurricane screens make the most sense?
Screened porches, lanais, outdoor kitchens, garage door openings, and other spans that are simply too wide for shutters. Many of our customers protect their windows with shutters and the porch with a hurricane screen, so the whole house is covered.
Can hurricane screens be motorized?
Yes, and most of ours are. A motorized screen closes the whole opening at the push of a button, or from your phone. After our crew installs the framework, it is ready for your preferred electrician to wire.
Do hurricane screens do anything the rest of the year?
That is the best part. Depending on the mesh you choose, the same screen cuts sun and glare, adds privacy, and keeps insects out, so it earns its keep all year instead of waiting in the garage for a storm.
